 City Finances

With a dedicated management team, the Grace administration has relentlessly looked for ways to run city government more efficiently. During these last three years the nation has experienced difficult economic times. Some cities have found themselves in a fiscal crisis. As a result, they have been forced to cut city services, plus lay off police officers and firefighters. Due to fiscal responsibility by the Grace administration, Elyria has been able to keep our safety forces on the job protecting our families and our homes.

“City finances are in good shape, no small feat considering the bleak economy.”
– The Chronicle Telegram, April 27, 2003

“Despite the rocky U.S. economy, Elyria has been stable in maintaining city services, avoiding layoffs and keeping city finances in order, by trimming administrative expenses. Switching to a new health plan for city workers saved about $1 million last year alone, Grace notes. Grace cites other savings in the areas of uniforms, copiers and cell phones.” – The Morning Journal, April 22, 2003
