City Streets

Mayor Grace has made it clear that he is not satisfied with the condition of the city streets. When the Mayor took office, the streets were bad and there was no plan in place to improve the overall quality of the city’s streets. Now there is a plan:

Elyria Street Department

Road Resurfacing in Elyria

The Grace Administration has been successful in obtaining federal grants for street improvement;

License plate fees have been adjusted to provide increased local funding to pave more streets and provide matching funds for additional state and federal money;

The State of Ohio has increased the gas tax by six cents, providing $1 million of additional street funds for Elyria over the next three years;

All told, next year, the funds will be at work for us, enabling the city to pave approximately three times as many streets annually as have been done over the past 20 years.
